You will be taught and led by Dr. Jen Nash, a Clinical Psychologist who has lived with type 1 diabetes for more than 20 years. Her personal experience of diabetes together with her Clinical Psychology training means she understands first hand the ongoing challenges you are facing and is uniquely placed to help you deal with them.

In the workshop, you will:

  1. Identify the barriers to achieving better control over your diabetes (whether this be losing weight, achieving your ideal blood glucose control, implementing a healthier diet, exercising more, giving up smoking etc) therefore enabling you to develop a healthier, happier lifestyle.
  2. Discover what simple, practical actions you can take right away to put an end to that dreaded feeling of being out of control with your diabetes and instead provide you with a powerful sense of personal control over your physical health and psychological wellbeing.
  3. Learn how your thinking patterns are at the root of your experiences of diabetes-related stress and how to develop more empowering thinking styles using skills of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy—a well-researched psychological therapy which is proven to have positive outcomes for your emotional wellbeing.
  4. Devise your own personalised 'Positive Diabetes Action Plan'  focussing on the diabetes related goals you would like to achieve. This may be losing weight, tackling low mood, achieving a healthier diet or something completely different,  whatever is most important to you and your wellbeing! This Action Plan will be your step-by-step roadmap to enable you to tackle your diabetes-related stress following the workshop, allowing you to achieve greater levels of health and vitality.
  5. Learn and share experiences from a group of other delegates with diabetes—in an atmosphere of mutual support and understanding.
  6. Take advantage of ongoing support from Dr. Jen Nash following the workshop, helping you to thoroughly implement your Action Plan and stay on track with your newfound energy and motivation.
